Dear Visitors:
Thank you for visiting NYST.org, the online home of The New York Singing Teachers' Association (NYSTA).
In 2006 NYSTA will be celebrating its one hundredth anniversary as an organization devoted to promoting beautiful and artful singing and committed to helping singing teachers perform at the highest professional level. Over the years our membership has broadened and we count among our numbers not only teachers but performers, composers, coaches, physicians, speech pathologists and anyone who believes in promoting good, healthy, well-informed singing. The development of a curriculum aimed at accomplishing this has been a major achievement of our organization. Investigating the many facets of singing and performance has become the core of our programs. The understanding that a singer, or indeed any performer, has to be prepared not only physically but psychologically and emotionally, has influenced us so that these aspects of our work are well represented in our presentations. It is the deepening of our understanding of related fields which complete the picture of the truly artful and healthy singer.
If you are looking for a voice teacher, please refer to our Find a Teacher Directory. These teachers, all members of NYSTA, are committed to a high level of professionalism.
I invite you to visit the site often and I would like to encourage you to consider membership. No matter which category of membership is appropriate to you, there is a place for you in the NYSTA family.
Sincerely,
Josephine Mongiardo
