Biography

My background is classical/operatic/German Lieder. I studied 3 years as an operatic performance major at the Music Conservatory in Nurnberg, Germany.I was under contract in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany as leading soprano for 2 years, where I performed premiere performancces of the following 7 leading/and/or title operatic roles: Donna Anna, in Don Giovanni,Violetta in Traviata, Elisabeth in Tannhauser, Minnie, Girl of the Golden West, Santuzza, Cavalleria Rusticana, the daughter in Hindemith's Cardillac, and Leonora, Fidelio.

I've performed title operatic roles on the stages of three international capitals as follows:
Mexico City [Palacio de Bellas Artes] Leonora,Fidelio, Turandot, Prima Donna/Ariadne auf Naxos
Ottawa, Canada [National Arts Center]Leonora, Fidelio(concert version)
Warsaw, Poland [Teatro Wielke] Turandot(Written up in Opera News)
Among other leading/and/or title roles I've performed with orchestra:
Guadalajara --Aida, title role, [Teatro Degollado],Mexico City, Senta, Flying Dutchman [Palacio de Bellas Artes]

I performed a very well received  debut solo vocal recital in German in "Carnegie Recital Hall",NYC, a solo vocal recital in the series "El arte del Canto" in the Manuel Ponce Sala of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Mexico City, studied German Lieder with Dalton Baldwin in Weimar, and performed a series of "Goethe" recitals in Germany for the 250th anniversary of the birth of  Goethe.

I was selected "Woman of the Year in the Arts" in Brookhaven Township,L.I. for the year 1999-2000.

Teaching Philosophy
I have a low-tech,bel canto vocal  studio featuring Vaccai, Lutgen, and especially the McClosky 6 areas of relaxation for vocal production---(McClosky Institute "Enhancement of the Healthy Voice.Help for the Troubled Voice" 2003)

I have excellent German and French diction as well as good Italian and Spanish , and am extremely successful in  teaching and working in songs/arias in those languages.

I teach all ages, all levels, with an emphasis on the classical, operatic and  German Lieder, and extending to  French Chansons, folk tunes and musical theater. I prepare for NYSSMA, college auditions, solo recitals, and my goal for singers of all ages is to sing for the joy of singing.

I've enjoyed a most successful career in singing despite all the odds against it, e.g. 60 miles from a metropolitan area, home, husband and children to tend to,no "contacts" or networking, etc.---and I offer both encouragement and very  solid, sound, technical information to singers young and old.

Studio Policies
If you will bring a desire to sing beautifully, to attend lessons regularly and on time, I promise to do the rest to instruct you in free, and beautiful singing in English and several other languages. We  generally have at least one recital a year.

Since consideration for both the student's and my time is fundamental to the process of learning to sing well, I expect timely (minimum 24 hrs.) cancellation as well as rescheduling of  missed lessons.
