Helen Fanelli, Dramatic Mezzo Soprano hails originally from Austin Texas where she received her Bachelor of Music Degree (BFA) in Voice from the University of Texas. For the past 6 years she has taught voice at the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory in Tarrytown, New York in Weschester County. She performed with the Metropolitan Opera Company Chorus most recently in their 2007 production of "Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg", conducted by James Levine. In 2006 she sang in the Met's production of "Fidelio". Previous performances with the Met include the Berlioz operas of "Benvenuto Cellini" in 2003-04 and "Les Troyens," in 2002-03 all operas conducted by Maestro James Levine. She has sung previously with the Taconic Opera, New Rochelle Opera, Brooklyn Lyric Chamber Opera, Regina Opera,Operesque Opera and Dallas Lyric Opera, and Austin Lyric Opera Company in Texas. Her operetic roles include: Marcellina, Carmen, Azucena, Flora, Hanna Glawari, and Erda. Ms. Fanelli is currently the Alto soloist and sec tion leader at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Mamaroneck New York, and is a member of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists) and PWSA (Professional Women Singers Association). Her main voice teacher was the famous Baritone Jess Walters, who sang with the Royal Netherlands Opera and Convent Garden, Conductors: Walter Ducloux, Corneilius Eberhardt, Daniel Long, Gregory Ortega, Adrian Bryttan & John Burrows, and Vocal Coaches Gerard Souzay, Fiora Contino, David Garvey (former accompanist of Leontyne Price), and the late Charles Riecker (from 1998-2006) Stage Directors include Francesca Zambello, Jack Eddleman, Richard Crittenden, Boris Goldovsky and Robert DeSimone. |
