The study of voice and its unique and powerful expression has been my lifelong pursuit. My Juilliard training has been invaluable, and led to many fulfilling years on opera, musical theatre, and legitimate theatre stages. I later sought a concentrated study in vocal production and health within the field of speech pathology, wanting to bring a scientific understanding of anatomy and physiology to my artistic sensibility.
What I offer those seeking both vocal rehabilitation as well as students of vocal arts, and professional voice users, is a well-formed and systematic approach to achieving proper vocal technique. Singers and actors will be aided in applying these methods in text work and preferred vocal repetoires. Whether the goal is to recover from vocal injury, strengthen the voice, or attain the best function within an artistic or professional endeavor, the collaboration will undoubtedly be stimulating and restorative. As each voice is unique and each need different, a customized plan is used to maximize individual strengths, while working to overcome vocal weaknesses.
The earliest I begin vocal work is generally in adolescence. Vocal study can continue through the later years to address the challenges of an aging voice.
A serious commitment is required with lessons generally scheduled once weekly with fees dependent upon services provided (voice lessons or vocal rehabilitation) and will be addressed at initial phone consultation. As in all physical therapy, consistency, motivation and compliance are key factors to success.
Arriving late for a lesson will cut into the time scheduled with no reduction of fee.
If you are referred by a physician and have a medical diagnosis, I will provide any necessary reports (including progress notes as needed) and individual receipts for each session so reimbursement to the patient may be obtained for out-of-pocket expenses from health insurance providers on an out-of-network basis. I am not a provider on any health insurance plan.
Any cancellation within 24 hours of a scheduled lesson time (barring extraordinary circumstances) will incur a $50 cancellation fee, as my scheduled time allotted for that lesson will be lost.
